Amr Seif

Head of Asset Management

Amr Seif joined EFG Hermes in October 2013 as Head of the firm’s Asset Management division. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a Managing Director of Finance Unlimited at regional invest- ment company Citadel Capital, where he was responsible for growing investments for portfolio holdings covering various industries: commercial banking, integrated investment banking, micro lending and insurance brokerage. After beginning his professional career in Egypt in 1991 with Shell and, later, Citibank, Amr worked for a decade in London with JP Morgan and Investec as a fund manager, where he maintained a focus on markets including Turkey, Eastern Europe, and MENA. Throughout, he both managed existing funds and launched new products, earning a reputation for delivering consistent excess returns over relevant benchmarks and for topping like-for-like peers in both rising and declining markets.

Nabil Moussa

Managing Director – Head of Asset Management, Egypt

Mr. Moussa is head of Asset Management in Egypt and the Portfolio Manager responsible for several long-only mandates, which include financial institutions, insurance firms, government pension funds and sovereign funds. He is also a member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Moussa has over 15 years of experience in investment management. Prior to joining EFG Hermes, he worked for HC Securities and Investment as a Managing Director overseeing the Investment and Sales Team, where he structured investment strategies for several long-only mutual funds and government agencies. He was also active in expanding the firm's client base. Mr. Moussa completed the Investment Analysis course of Chase as well as a three-month training programme at Morgan Stanley in New York. He is a member of the Egyptian Investment Management Association (EIMA). Mr. Moussa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Cairo University.


Sadiq Hussain

Managing Director – Head of Business Development

Mr. Hussain joined EFG Hermes in 2015 as a Managing Director heading the Business Development team in Asset Management. With 25 years of exceptionally strong international experience in emerging and regional markets, Mr. Hussain previously worked with J.P. Morgan Securities in Dubai, where he held the post of Head of MENA Equities and Global Frontier Markets for eight years. He has previously held posts at ING Barings (New York), Bank of America Merrill Lynch (Hong Kong) and AKD Investment Management (Karachi). Mr. Hussain is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.

Sherif El-Haddad

Managing Director – Portfolio Manager

Since joining EFG Hermes Asset Management in 2004, Mr. El-Haddad has been an integral part of the regional investment team. In addition to serving as Portfolio Manager for the flagship Middle East and Developing Africa (MEDA) Fund, he also manages a number of segregated mandates, which have a similar regional focus and common investment strategy. In addition to the investment management role, he is also jointly responsible for overseeing buy-side research efforts and is an active member of the Investment Committee. Prior to joining EFG Hermes, Mr. El-Haddad worked in the Credit and Marketing Department at the Arab African International Bank. He holds a Bachelor’s in Accounting from the American University in Cairo (AUC), and he completed the Investment Banking Course of Euromoney, DC Gardner.

Junaid Farooq

Managing Director – Portfolio Manager

Mr. Farooq joined EFG Hermes Asset Management in 2009 and is a key member of the investment team, responsible for Middle East and Frontier investment strategy. Prior to joining EFG Hermes, he was the Portfolio Manager of the regional flagship fund at Mashreq Bank . He is currently the Portfolio Manager for the Frontier Opportunities Fund and manages the bulk of the regional segregated mandates, with a focus on the Middle East. His area of expertise includes banking, consumer services, healthcare and transportation. Apart from investment management, he is also jointly responsible for overseeing buy-side research efforts and is an active member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Farooq started his career as an investment banker in Pakistan at Global Securities Pakistan limited (formerly UBS Securities), with a focus on M&A advisory. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi, Pakistan. He is also a CFA and CAIA Charterholder.

Hashim Omran

Managing Director – Portfolio Manager

Mr. Omran is a Portfolio Manager for EFG Hermes Asset Management, where he is responsible for several regional equity funds and segregated mandates that focus on the Middle East and Africa. His areas of expertise include the technology, media and telecom (TMT) sectors. He also oversees analysts’ coverage and is a member of the Investment Committee. His work focuses on discretionary portfolios with active/absolute return targets, mainly for regional and international SWFs and institutions. For the last seven years, he has served as the Fund Manager for the region's only TMT fund that invests in the MENA region, Africa and select frontier markets, in addition to managing a white-label GCC equity fund for a prominent GCC bank with a focus on a sharia-compliant equity investments. Mr. Omran holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Finance from Middlesex University, UK.


Aliasgar Lilamwala

Director – Asset Management, KSA

Mr. Lilamwala joined EFG Hermes Asset Management in 2008 and is responsible for covering in-depth research and analysis focused on the Saudi Arabian market. He currently manages a number of regional equity mandates. Before joining EFG Hermes KSA, Mr. Lilamwala worked as a Sr. Investment Analyst in the investments division of one of the leading business conglomerates in Saudi Arabia. Prior to that, he was a Sr. Financial Analyst in the India operations of D.E. Shaw & Co. – one of the largest hedge funds in the world. Mr. Lilamwala graduated from the University of Mumbai with a Bachelor’s in Engineering. He also holds an MBA from the University of Oklahoma, USA, is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute.


Khalil El Bawab

Managing Director – Head of Fixed Income

Mr. El-Bawab joined EFG Hermes in 2007. Currently he heads the Egypt Fixed Income Group and is a Managing Director at EFG Hermes Asset Management. He manages a variety of money market funds (MMFs), including those for Credit Agricole, Bank of Alexandria, Qatar National Bank in Egypt, Bank Audi and Arab Investment Bank. Moreover, he was in charge of managing the first structured capital protected fund in Egypt: HSBC’s second fund “Istikrar”. He also manages the first fixed-income fund in Egypt for the Bank of Alexandria, in addition to managing fixed-income portfolios for high net-worth individuals and institutions. Prior to joining EFG Hermes, he held the position of Assistant Chief Dealer at Arab Bank plc's Treasury & Capital Markets Department. Mr. El-Bawab is a CPM as well as a freelance lecturer in managerial and corporate finance, treasury products and risk management. He holds an MBA in Banking and Finance from Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands, and graduated with high honours from the American University in Cairo, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.

Walaa Hazem, MBA

Director – Portfolio Manager

Mr. Hazem is a Portfolio Manager responsible for several equity portfolios for high net-worth clients in addition to local and regional institutional investors. He has more than 14 years of experience in the field of equities and investments, having previously served as Vice President in HC Securities and Investment in addition to being Head of Research at HC Brokerage. Mr. Hazem was previously a Senior Investment Analyst at Concord International Investments. He holds an MBA from Heriot Watt University, UK, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the American University in Cairo.
